A Philadelphia judge dismissed the defamation lawsuit former DA hopeful Dan McCaffery brought against the city of Philadelphia’s ethics watchdog agency on the grounds that the agency has quasi-judicial immunity.

McCaffery, who was the No. 2 vote-getter in a field of five in the 2009 Democratic primary for Philadelphia district attorney, alleged that he was defamed by an announcement by the Philadelphia Board of Ethics just seven days before the May 19 primary.
