Ignoring the recommendation of the State Ethics Commission, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has entered an order that paves the way for Montgomery County Republican Mike L. Krancer to remain on this month’s primary ballot as a candidate for the high court.

In an amicus brief filed with the justices several weeks ago in In re Nomination Petition of Krancer, the Ethics Commission — which administers the system by which Pennsylvania’s would-be public officials disclose personal financial information — said that Krancer, until recently chief judge of the state Environmental Hearing Board, should have reported on his high court bid-related statement of financial interest (SFI) income he has jointly held with his spouse.
