Plaintiffs experts in asbestos cases may not state as generally accepted science that each single exposure to asbestos is a significant contributing factor to the formation of asbestos-related illnesses, a Philadelphia judge has ruled.

The “each and every breath” theory of causation, Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Allan Tereshko said, was based on “an illusion of methodology … without any substance,” and should be rejected by courts.
