The investigation into corruption at the Luzerne County courthouse accelerated at a lightning-quick pace over the last week, with the sources tying admitted felons to the probe, confirmation that federal investigators are looking at allegations of case fixing and the revelation that the FBI interviewed several current judges and photocopied court documents regarding “civil matters.”

Since late February, sources have linked retired judge Michael T. Conahan to Robert Kulick, an admitted felon and friend of reputed mob boss William “Billy” D’Elia; told Pennsylvania Law Weekly that Kulick and D’Elia are cooperating in the ongoing investigation; and confirmed that the U.S. Attorney’s Office has been investigating possible case fixing in Luzerne County’s uninsured and under insured motorist arbitration cases for some time — something first reported by Pennsylvania Law Weekly three weeks ago.
