The state Superior Court last month addressed the issue of standing in dependency proceedings in two separate opinions.
In both instances, the Superior Court determined that the family members seeking to participate in the dependency proceedings lacked standing. In In the Interest of J.S., PICS Case No. 09-1208 (Pa. Super. July 21, 2009) Bowes, J. (14 pages), the Superior Court reversed a lower court order permitting a child’s foster parents, also the child’s paternal aunt and uncle, to intervene in ongoing dependency proceedings.
