Q: I serve on a bar committee with a lawyer who has actively lobbied, under the aegis of our association, in favor of substantial changes in the law. I recently learned that my colleague represents a client that is likely to directly benefit from those changes. Was there any unethical conduct?
A: Normally, a lawyer cannot represent or assist two different masters.
