The two candidates for an open seat on the state Supreme Court collected the majority of their campaign contributions between June and September from a single organization.

The $500,000 in contributions to Democratic candidate Jack Panella and $100,000 to Republican candidate Joan Orie Melvin by the Committee For a Better Tomorrow highlight the essential problem with elections for appellate court judges, one observer said.
