A state appeals panel has upheld the conviction of Christopher Porco for slaying his father, Peter Porco, the former law clerk to the presiding justice of the Appellate Division, Third Department, although the panel found problems with admission of a portion of prosecution evidence.

Four Second Department justices agreed last week that Mr. Porco’s second-degree murder and attempted murder convictions in 2006 should stand. Mr. Porco, 26, a one-time University at Rochester student, is serving a 50-year-to-life sentence.
