Vinson & Elkins has sent letters to its 2010 first-year associates inviting them to begin their V&E careers Oct. 4, 2010, with base annual salaries of $160,000, said firm hiring partner Tom Leatherbury on March 29.
In the fall of 2009, V&E, like many large firms, had made full-time job offers to its 2009 summer associates without stating specific start dates or salaries. Last year’s V& E offer letters stated that the firm’s management committee would determine start dates and salaries during the first quarter of 2010.
