Clifford E. Haines became president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association last year, likening the process to preparing for such a leadership position to that of delivering an opening argument at trial.
A former chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, Haines had rehearsed for the day enough and, he said at the time, been cured of his “need for what I would characterize as the trappings of office.” Instead, the goal was to concentrate on accomplishing his goals.
