On May 26, a reception to celebrate the first anniversary of the Pennsylvania Innocence Project will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Independence Visitor Center, Liberty View Ballroom, Sixth and Market streets, Philadelphia. The event will feature live music performed by Standard Time, a musical group of prominent lawyers and judges, and Philly Bloco, a musical group with 22 drummers, singers, dancers, an accordionist, and brass, set to the beat of Brazilian Carnival. On May 27, Community Legal Services will hold its annual Breakfast of Champions at 8 a.m. at the Radisson Plaza-Warwick Hotel, 1701 Locust St., Philadelphia. Laurence Tribe, senior counselor for access to justice for the U.S. Department of Justice will be the keynote speaker. This year, CLS will present the Champion of Justice Award to state Rep. Kathy M. Manderino, and Equal Justice Awards to Anita Santos-Singh, executive director of Philadelphia Legal Assistance; Michael J. Boni of Boni & Zack; and Johnie Mae Coles, paralegal, Community Legal Services.
