The business of beauty can sometimes get very ugly.

In a court battle between Pierre & Carlo, a high-end Philadelphia beauty salon, and Premier Salons Inc., the Canada-based international salon chain that took it over, a federal judge has concluded that the takeover was likely illegal in several ways, including theft by conversion of Pierre & Carlo’s furniture and equipment and infringement of its trademarks.
