As you can see from my full disclosure headline, these reading recommendations are not all mine. Usually, by the time it gets this hot and I’ve dug my white loafers out of the closet, I’ve plowed through a stack of books and have too many suggestions for my annual summer reading picks column. A few years, I’ve had to reach out to other people for suggestions .

This is one of those years, and this year’s list is mostly wishful reading. I haven’t read many good books lately. I haven’t read many books at all lately. And it is all my computer’s fault. There is too much to read online, and I am inundated with e-mails, enlisted in too many list servs, and bombarded with blogs, alerts and digests. And I’m barely “linked in.”
