I ran into an old law school classmate and discovered he has been suspended. I would like to hire him as a paralegal to work in my law office. Is that ethically permissible?

For purposes of this column, I will assume the suspended lawyer who is going to work as a paralegal is doing so in Pennsylvania. It’s important to note that some states — New Jersey included — bar suspended lawyers from acting as paralegals in any capacity.
