The Central Intelligence Agency has responded adequately to Freedom of Information Act requests on the detention and interrogation of terrorism suspects, a federal judge has ruled.
With one exception, Southern District of New York Judge Loretta A. Preska upheld the refusal of the CIA and other agencies to release documents sought in four different FOIA requests made by Amnesty International, the Center for Constitutional Rights and Washington Square Legal Services Inc. The organizations had hoped the documents would shed light on the secret rendition of detainees and the alleged mistreatment and physical abuse of detainees through techniques that included waterboarding.
