Six firms with large Texas operations say they have made full-time associate job offers for the fall of 2011 or winter of 2012 to this year’s class of summer associates.
Baker Botts, Hunton & Williams Jackson Walker, Thompson & Knight, Vinson & Elkins, and Weil, Gotshal & Manges report offer rates surpassing last year’s. The firms recruited their 2010 summer associates — who are now third-year law students — during the fall of 2009, a time when Texas firms, like others nationwide, purposely downsized their upcoming summer associate classes in response to a shaky economy.
