Hildebrandt Baker Robbins consultant Lisa R. Smith predicted in a blog post in September that the legal industry could shed 17,500 non-partner lawyer positions in the coming years thanks to smaller summer classes, efficiency through project management, the use of legal process outsourcers and a growing tier of non-partner track staff attorneys.
