Hastings Law Firm of The Woodlands sued two Houston-based drilling companies on Dec. 1, alleging they “consciously and willfully” disregarded the firm’s fee interest when settling a personal injury suit lodged against them by the firm’s former client.
Hastings Law Firm alleges in the petition that it seeks unspecified actual damages, because it doesn’t know the terms of the settlement between its former client, Juan Puga, and the two defendants, Hercules Offshore Drilling Co. LLC and Hercules Offshore Inc. However, Hastings Law Firm alleges it’s due 45 percent of the settlement paid to Puga.
