Diversity in the legal profession remains an ongoing issue, and one of the main activities for the Philadelphia Bar Association in 2010 was its efforts to make the most effective use of its resources to advance diversity in the local bar.
The bar association retooled its diversity efforts through the appointment by Chancellor Scott F. Cooper of Scott W. Reid to serve as the association’s first high-level volunteer focused on diversity issues. The goal of the volunteer position is to keep the issue of diversity front and center in the organized bar, especially through the volunteer’s attendance of the meetings of the association’s policy-making cabinet.
