Issues of judicial power and evidentiary thresholds will be key topics for the state Supreme Court this week, as it holds a two-day oral argument session in Philadelphia.

Though the 15 cases slated to be heard by the justices today and tomorrow range from criminal practice issues surrounding juries to family law, workers’ compensation, insurance and trusts and estates, five of them touch on necessary proofs or a judicial officer’s scope of jurisdiction and decision-making abilities.
