The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, which lacks oversight of thousands of natural gas lines in Pennsylvania, may soon have the jurisdiction to audit and conduct safety inspections of all intrastate gathering, distribution, and transmission lines.

Legislation proposing such changes is almost certain for quick approval byboth houses of the General Assembly. It also has the support of industry and environmental groups, according to its sponsor, state Rep. Matt Baker, R-Bradford.
