Eight appellate lawyers from seven of the state’s largest law firms have joined together to file an amici curiae brief in support of two grocery store chains stuck with an $18.5 million verdict after they failed to file post-trial motions before appealing to the Superior Court.
The lawyers say they have no viewpoint on the merits of the case, but rather have a "strong interest in the interpretation and application of post-trial and appellate procedural rules in a manner that provides fair notice of what has to be done to achieve review of cases on their merits."
