Prominent South Florida attorney Henry “Hank” Adorno, whose handling of a controversial class action suit against the city of Miami cost him his law firm and his stature in the community, received a three-year suspension from the practice of law Wednesday by the Florida Supreme Court.
All seven justices swept aside a referee’s recommended punishment of a public reprimand in his protracted disciplinary case brought by The Florida Bar. The court had placed Adorno on indefinite suspension last fall pending the outcome of the final ruling. The action against Adorno arose from allegations of misconduct in a class action lawsuit that resulted in a $7 million settlement, with $2 million going to the Adorno & Yoss law firm for fees.
