When an April equipment failure at a remote natural gas drilling site in Bradford County spilled thousands of gallons of chemical-laden fracking fluid into a nearby stream, a specialized crew from Texas was summoned to stop the leak.

The drilling company, Chesapeake Energy, drew criticism from community members and officials who said response was too slow. Chesapeake has since said it will use a local crew to respond to future emergencies.
