Ten days after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the Legal Arizona Workers Act — a law that penalizes employers who knowingly hire unauthorized foreign workers — the justices on Monday ordered the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider a decision last year that struck down a similar set of local ordinances passed in Hazleton, Pa.
The high court’s order in the Hazleton case is known as a “GVR,” meaning that the justices granted a writ of certiorari, vacated the 3rd Circuit’s decision, and without comment remanded it for reconsideration in light of the May 26 decision in Chamber of Commerce v. Whiting .
