Lateral moves in the e-discovery realm are picking up speed as Pennsylvania law firms look to establish or formalize practice groups tailored to counsel clients on discovery practices and oversee management of large-scale e-discovery.

The latest move comes with the hire of Philip Yannella at Ballard Spahr. Yannella made the jump from Dechert in order to head up the e-discovery and data management practice at Ballard Spahr. While the firm has had lawyers working in this area for some time — there are already 13 attorneys working in the group — Yannella’s addition formalizes the practice and gives it its first leader.
