A recent report from the consulting firm Altman Weil that shows an increasing number of law firm mergers across the country, while also showing a decrease in the size of such deals, seems to comport with Pennsylvania firms’ sweet spot as of late — acquisitions of small boutiques or groups.

The last large-scale merger undertaken by a Pennsylvania firm was back in March 2009 when K&L Gates merged with Chicago-based Bell Boyd & Lloyd.
