At the height of the recession, many midsized firms said they were poised for an influx of work that typically goes to larger firms in better economic times. But did that flood ever come? And, if so, will it stay? Some midsized firm leaders and industry watchers The Legal spoke to said it has and it will — but only for those firms that have actively and intelligently pursued it.

“A lot of firms haven’t gone for it,” Boston-based legal consultant Jeff Coburn said. “You have to position yourself to get it and go aggressively looking for opportunities.”
