I am in the middle of a jury trial and during the lunch break, I was eating lunch at a local restaurant. Suddenly a voice said, “I’m one of the jurors on your case and you should stop talking.” I looked up and noted a juror without a badge sitting a few tables away. Did I do anything unethical?

Any lawyer who tries jury trials regularly realizes they have to be very careful to not have inadvertent contact with a juror. Sometimes it is next to impossible especially in some small towns with few restaurants. But even in big cities, the restaurants that are closest to the courthouse and provide the fastest service are populated by both jurors and lawyers.
