Finding that delay damages are a “component” of compensatory damages, a federal judge has ruled that an insurer must cover the entire judgment awarded to a motorist in her suit against an underinsured driver.

But U.S. District Judge Mitchell S. Goldberg also concluded that the insurer could not be liable for bad faith because neither side was able to cite to a case directly on point regarding whether delay damages were covered under the policy.
