The state Supreme Court has approved the assignment of a Westmoreland County senior judge with “no known connections” to Penn State or The Second Mile charity to preside over the preliminary hearing of embattled former coach Jerry Sandusky, the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts announced Wednesday.

Robert E. Scott, a senior magisterial district judge from Westmoreland County, was assigned to the criminal case Commonwealth v. Sandusky following a request from the Centre County Common Pleas Court for an out-of-county judicial assignment. Scott is retired but remains available to hear cases by appointment, according to a press release from the AOPC on Wednesday.
