A Lackawanna County judge has denied preliminary objections in a suit filed by a Swedish national who claims that after he was injured on the job, his Scranton-based former employer unlawfully forced him out of the company and, ultimately, out of the country in an attempt to escape liability.

The employer had claimed in its objections that the employee was precluded from a jury trial because he signed an arbitration agreement, but Lackawanna County Common Pleas Court Judge Carmen D. Minora ruled that the agreement was never valid and allowed the plaintiff’s wrongful termination claim against the company to move forward.
