What is the current status of legal advertising in Pennsylvania? I had heard there were proposed changes, but haven’t seen anything.
Legal advertising in all formats, including electronic formats, has become a way of life. Whether they are old phone book ads, newspaper ads or Web pages, ads come in all shapes and forms. Pennsylvania’s key advertising rules are set forth in Rules of Professional Conduct 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3, and should be read by any lawyer who is involved in advertising. In essence, these rules prohibit false and misleading advertisements, prohibit advertisements that create unjustifiable expectations, and set forth special rules to ensure advertisements are not misleading, as set forth in detail in Rule of Professional Conduct 7.2.
