A reader asked: Do any of the ethical rules specifically address this issue of judges and social media (such as Facebook)?
No, there is nothing in the Rules of Professional Conduct or the Code of Judicial Conduct in Pennsylvania that addresses electronic social networking or electronic social media. Even the Model Rules of the American Bar Association on judicial conduct do not really address this issue. Obviously, this has to change because it is starting to become a problem, as seen in some recent cases in Pennsylvania.
