The law firm at the center of the First Judicial District’s legal malpractice lawsuit over legal work done on a new family courthouse said that its former partner should indemnify it.

Earlier this month, Jeffrey B. Rotwitt, a co-defendant in the FJD’s suit, raised claims against Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel, his former firm. Rotwitt’s counsel stated that, if Rotwitt is liable to the FJD, Obermayer Rebmann is jointly liable, the law firm is liable for contribution to Rotwitt, and, if Rotwitt acted on behalf of Obermayer Rebmann, the firm is required to indemnify its ex-partner.
