A number of small and midsized firms in Pennsylvania have been forced to rebrand recently after parting with name partners. In many cases, the partners who left were also co-founders.

But while nearly all of those firms have moved on under new or slightly different monikers, legal consultants said name partner defections can present obstacles far beyond simply having to order new letterhead.
