Roughly 2,000 former professional football players filed a long-form complaint Thursday in a multidistrict litigation suit against the National Football League in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, claiming the league is responsible for the debilitating health problems that athletes developed after getting concussions while playing the sport.

Lawyers representing the players expect more will join the action, which consolidated more than 80 separate suits.
