When will the ethics rules catch up to modern technology, particularly in the area of competence?
As noted in an earlier article, the American Bar Association is reviewing its Rules of Professional Conduct to make changes to accommodate modern technology. The ABA’s annual meeting, which begins on Aug. 2 in Chicago, will feature proposed changes to the Model Rules of Professional Responsibility in the area of ethics. There was a good article on that subject in the June 25 issue of The Legal by John Barkett (“ABA To Tackle Technology Issues at Meeting”).
