The Court of Judicial Discipline’s decision to weigh in on the evidence in the criminal case against indicted Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin has come under fire from a number of court watchers who think the court overstepped its bounds.
On August 30, the state Court of Judicial Discipline ordered that Orie Melvin not be paid during her interim suspension, saying the criminal charges against her "describe conduct so egregious as to require respondent’s interim suspension without pay."
