An attorney representing a magisterial district judge who was removed from the bench last year after missing court more than 100 times over two years told the state Supreme Court last week the standard for reviewing sanctions out of the Court of Judicial Discipline was flawed.

Samuel C. Stretton said during oral arguments last week in Philadelphia the CJD acted too severely when it ruled former Magisterial District Judge Maryesther S. Merlo should be removed from the bench and banned from ever serving in judicial office again.
