“Are you plaintiff or defense?” How many times have you been at an event and been asked that very question? After working on the defense side for over 20 years, I recently “crossed over” to the newly-formed plaintiff firm of Haggerty, Goldberg, Schleifer & Kupersmith.
Of course, I had some initial reservations. How would I learn the aspects of the plaintiff side after doing defense work for so many years? Would I be up to the challenge of tackling a new area? Over the past several months, I have come to realize that it is not necessarily which “side” you are on when working as a paralegal. Rather, it is your ability to transfer skills and apply your knowledge and experience to the new position.
