Former Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas Judge Mark A. Ciavarella Jr.’s challenge to his 28-year sentence for his involvement in the "kids-for-cash" scandal has been rejected by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Ciavarella, one of two former judges who was convicted in the scandal, had leveled numerous challenges to the conduct of the federal trial court judge and alleged various trial and sentencing errors in his appeal to the Third Circuit.
