A controversy surrounding the Lackawanna County guardian ad litem program and Danielle Ross, once the county's sole guardian, took a pivotal turn in February when Ross was indicted on two counts of tax evasion and two counts of filing a false federal income-tax report.

Now, prosecutors are looking to gather information as to Ross' level of education in the area of the law in which she has been criminally charged. Specifically, federal prosecutors are looking to use Ross' educational background to poke holes in her apparent defense to the charges, at least based on court records, that she did not intentionally fail to report about $200,000 in income in 2009 and 2010.
