Another spate of suits stemming from birth defects allegedly caused by an antidepressant has been consolidated in U.S. District Judge Cynthia Rufe's courtroom in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation this week consolidated nine actions from five districts across the country that claim Wyeth's drug called Effexor caused severe birth defects in babies born to women who took the prescription antidepressant while pregnant.
