Pennsylvania's voter ID law has been enjoined until the Commonwealth Court issues a ruling on the merits of the case.

Commonwealth Court Judge Bernard McGinley, who presided over the two-week trial earlier this summer, issued an opinion Friday that goes slightly beyond what the earlier injunctions of the controversial law allowed. Although it was passed over a year ago, the law requiring voters to show a valid photo identification card before casting a ballot has yet to go into effect.
