Former Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Michael L. Krancer said Thursday that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency “has shown its ineptitude” when it comes to regulating natural gas drilling.

Krancer, addressing the issue of fracking wastewater as part of a panel discussion at the industry-sponsored Shale Insight 2013 conference in Philadelphia, said oversight of hydraulic fracturing should be left to state regulators.
