Ford Motor Co. cannot be held liable in a case involving asbestos-containing auto parts manufactured and distributed by its subsidiary in the United Kingdom, a Philadelphia judge has ruled.
Summary judgment was granted in favor of defendants Ford and BorgWarner Corp. in Smith v. Ford Motor by Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Arnold L. New on Jan. 24. New concluded that the companies’ British subsidiaries were separate entities and not alter egos of the parent companies.
