The Commonwealth Court has ruled that administrative orders granting fee awards to court-appointed attorneys are appealable, and that it has jurisdiction to review such appeals.
On April 25, a split en banc panel of the court held in In re Appeal of Silverman that it had jurisdiction to review a court-appointed Post-Conviction Relief Act counsel fee award. The jurisdictional question is an issue of apparent first impression.
