Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane and General Counsel James Schultz have jointly filed two lawsuits against dozens of major oil companies, seeking reimbursement of money the state has paid out to clean up gasoline spills over the past two decades.
In one suit, the state has accused oil companies of knowingly manufacturing and selling gasoline containing a carcinogenic additive that has contaminated Pennsylvania’s water, causing the state to incur significant cleanup costs.
