When I was younger, I thought most adults just did not get what it was like to be a kid, but when I became an adult I realized that some adults are still kids. With increased technology and social media, we have seen a rise in bullying among school-age children, but we also have seen more workplace complaints about employees being subjected to abuse or bullying by other employees. According to the Workplace Bullying Institute’s 2014 Workplace Bullying Survey, 27 percent of Americans have suffered abusive conduct at work, another 21 percent have witnessed it and 72 percent are aware that workplace bullying happens. The survey also found that men do the majority of the bullying (69 percent) but that when women are the bullies, they tend to pick on other women (68 percent). I will save my thoughts on why women are more likely to bully other women for another day.

According to the Workplace Bullying Institute: “Bullying is a problem that has invaded the life of 37 percent of adult Americans without invitation. In its more severe forms, it triggers a host of stress-related health complications including hypertension, auto-immune disorders, depression, anxiety and PTSD. The person’s immediate job and career are often disrupted.”
